RE: SharksGrip update,
I have had a chance to spray the SharksGrip now on several jobs, I have also done my own test panels and a kool bathtub model to show inquiring customers.
This is my honest opinion of this product;
The product has very decent body to it. For you other seasoned refinishers that have sprayed Centari Ultra its very similar to that. It has super AWESOME color coverage, lays right down, little orange peel and the product is pretty difficult to run when applying. I pushed this product over the last week right to the limit, on one of my models in my own garage i tried to run it!!! it took quite a bit and PBRA must have put Anti-run-agents in it..lol... don't get me wrong you can still run it but it will lay down with out treading that fine line like in automotive clears and urethanes.
The gloss hold out is killer and better then anything else I have ever sprayed. It does take a while for it to harden up but is usable for showering and lite use the next day.
Now about the corkes about this product. PBRA says you can pull paper and caulk in 20-30 mins, I suppose if you put 2-3 light coats the refinisher might be able to however, I spray pretty heavy, when I lay a coat of paint on you know it!, so I think I am getting to much mill build for it to flash that fast and caulk in 20-30 mins, however I am able to to caulk the next morning which is still Cool with me, If I needed to caulk a job I was doing out of my city then i would just put the IR lamp on it for 2 hrs then come back and caulk. Anyways that's not a big factor in my opinion.
Now about the ADHESION:
For the sharksGrip this stuff sticks like HELL, All you have to do is clean and etch. I used the E.A.H Cleaner/Etch, smells almost like cherry cough syrup medicine which is prefect. I also did a test panel and used NAPCO's etch (just for the hell of it and i have 8 bottles of it left, thought i might try to get rid of the shit since they wont take any of there garbage water down topcoat resin back!!!! Sorry retardly runned garbage companies like that piss me right OFF!) Anyways back to the etch. All i needed to do is make it etched, dull & very clean. I did testing on my test panels over the course of 10 days. I did testing on the panels everyday for 10days. Testing involved checking for adhesion, DOI (depths of image of shininess), chemical hold out, hardness of topcoat, etc. These are my conclusions; This SharkGrip Modified Epoxy sticks like hell!!! No Joke guys, the first 1-3 days the adhesion was passable as a good product, however on the 4-6 day the product became harder and seem to bite into the etch porcelain by the 6-8 day the SharksGrip became almost chemically part of the tub surface Almost like ABS glue then gluing to joints. By the 8-10 day I tried to peel this with a brand new sharpened chisel, It would NOT let go!!! the best I could do is shave peelings of the coating off but when examined you could still see a faint residue at the bottom of the orange peal of the original porcelain coating, the SharksGrip would NOT de-laminate.
I have over 16 years in the collision & sprayed coating business, I hold an inter-provincial Tec. License, I have sprayed everything to commercial coats, BMW, Trucks, Large semi's, Combines, Corn pickers, Dump trucks, all and every car that's on the road, Large cigarette boats, aluminum boats, fiberglass boats, fleet vehicles (police cars, fleet coatings & colors), epoxies on floors, epoxy on Large truck air damps, etc, etc, and the list goes on. On top of all this I worked with a large company demoing there automotive paints across the province on my days off from my day job as a Head Painter in a Chrysler dealership. Needless to say I would say I have considerable experience with coatings.
With that said this is my missing piece of my puzzle for my bathtub resurfacing business!!!!!
This stuff out performs anything I have ever seen!
The Gloss hold out and adhesion is simply stunning, I don't believe there is a more superior product in existence.
EAH & the PBRA should be very proud of this development, absolutely OUTSTANDING!
Gary your an awesome guy and super outstanding to deal with, knowledgeable as well as so personable.
(THANKS BRO!!!)
Over all I am very happy to have found EAH and super proud to be part of the PBRA.
Thanks again for everything guys and hope to be dealing with the PBRA for Life.

PS: This stuff Polishes like a dream.
After 48 hrs of coating I came back and wet sanded with 1500 grit, Barnished with wool pad and fine compound, after with a foam pad and swirl remover, This stuff polishes like the old Dupont choma 9000 show Clear. Its hard enough to use but soft enough to cut and polish like a piece of furniture. The Gloss holds out super awesome even after polishing too. No die back at all!
This is for your retarded picky customers, I offer a flawless service but there is an additional $300-$450 fee for it.
Needless to say the PBRA blew me away again.
Thanks,
MD
