Technical Process
Refinishing a bathtub is not that difficult; however, you must have proper training. A home owner can do their own tub and save money but the quality will not show a beautiful finish. It will be rough in spots because the unskilled person does not have the experience to professionally spray the TOP COAT RESIN material on the tub through a very consistent process.
This is the process that will professionally re-glaze your tub.
In 10 steps
1. Clean the surface of the tub
2. Do all repairs to the tub
3. Acid etch the tub
4. Mask all areas needed
5. Vacuum, blow, tack
6. Apply adhesion promoter
7. Prime tub 2 coats
8. Apply resin top coat to bathtub two - four coats
9. Wait to touch dry 15mins (this is the time that may be needed to set before unmasking)
10. Unmask the tub and area & apply high grade silicon caulking
